Xelpid 40 Tablet contains Atorvastatin, which is a lipid-lowering drug. It is used to reduce elevated high blood cholesterol levels (hyperlipidemia) in patients when diet and lifestyle changes do not result in an adequate response. By reducing blood cholesterol levels, Atchol 20mg Tablet can also prevent the risk of heart attack, stroke, angina, or related health problems.
Atorvastatin can be used in children aged 10 years or above who have hyperlipidemia.
Before taking Atorvastatin, inform your doctor if you have any lung, liver, kidney, or heart problems. Also, inform your doctor if you have diabetes, thyroid problems, or a family history of muscle disorders. Avoid consuming alcohol or grapefruit juice while taking Atchol 20mg Tablet as it may make the medication less effective.
You should not take Atchol 20mg Tablet if you are pregnant or breastfeeding without consulting your doctor.
Atorvastatin may increase your blood sugar levels, especially in patients who are diabetic. Your doctor will closely monitor your blood sugar levels while undergoing therapy with Atchol 20mg Tablet as a precaution. Atorvastatin may affect the way your liver works. Your doctor will closely monitor your liver function while you are taking Atchol 20mg Tablet.
Use caution when consuming alcohol with Xelpid 40. Please consult your doctor.
Xelpid 40 is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy. Seek your doctor's advice, as studies on pregnant women and animals have shown significant harmful effects on the developing baby.
Xelpid 40 is unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Data suggests that the drug may cause toxicity to the baby.
Xelpid 40 does not usually affect your ability to drive.
Xelpid 40 is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment of Xelpid 40 is recommended. However, inform your doctor if you have any underlying kidney disease.
Xelpid 40 should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. A dose adjustment of Xelpid 40 may be needed. Please consult your doctor. The use of Xelpid 40 is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.
Xelpid 40 is a lipid-lowering medication (statin). It works by blocking an enzyme (HMG-CoA-reductase) required in the body to make cholesterol. It lowers "bad" cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides while raising the level of "good" cholesterol (HDL).
Common side effects include constipation, flatulence, dyspepsia, abdominal pain, cough, muscle pain, difficulty breathing, runny nose, headache, back pain, rash, asthenia, and arthralgia.
Atorvastatin, the active ingredient in Xelpid, inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, the rate-limiting enzyme responsible for cholesterol synthesis, thereby lowering plasma cholesterol and lipoprotein levels. Rapidly absorbed after oral administration, with maximum plasma concentrations reached within 1 to 2 hours. Extensively bound to plasma proteins, primarily metabolized by the liver. Metabolized to active metabolites by cytochrome P450 3A4. Eliminated primarily in bile, with a plasma elimination half-life of approximately 14 hours.
